"It is a physical league, a league with a lot of really good players in there who play week in and week out. "So for the younger Premiership players, who don't get to play week in and week out, it will be a test. "They will be playing against battle-hardened, experienced players, who have either been Premiership players or maybe if they're young, they might end up as Premiership players. "There is a lot for those guys to be playing for.
"Those groups are quite tight groups who would have been playing together a lot, and they may go at it with their best squad, as a test for their squad. " Harlequins finished third in Pool 3 of last season's Premiership Rugby Cup, while Hartpury finished seventh in the Championship table last term. And Wilson believes it is the perfect opportunity for Quins' next generation of stars to take centre stage. "We recognise that there are some really exciting young players in our squad, " he added. "They will get an opportunity and it will be great for the fans to see those younger boys generally, the future of Harlequins. "We will see how they deal with some of those guys.
Ten English clubs selected for Women's Super Rugby launchLONDON (Reuters) - Ten clubs have been offered places in a new women’s domestic competition to start in September, England’s Rugby Football Union (RFU) announced on Tuesday. England’s Red Roses won the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2014 and the creation of Women’s Super Rugby is aimed at sustaining the rise in participation and improving playing standards. The clubs to meet the criteria for the new competition are Bristol Ladies, Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, Firwood Waterloo Ladies, Harlequin FC, Gloucester-Hartpury Women’s RFC, Loughborough Students (Lightning), Richmond FC, Saracens Women, Wasps FC Ladies and Worcester Valkyries. There will be no relegation for two years. “This is another significant development for women’s rugby in this country, ” RFU Director of Professional Rugby Nigel Melville said in a statement.
"There will be some experienced boys in there as well who will obviously play their part in that. "We do need to develop our squad, look at our squad in tough games and playing some of these Championship teams, I imagine there will be different approaches. "It will be great exposure for those guys. "We'll look forward to The Stoop on the weekend, and from looking at Hartpury previously, they play a very exciting brand of rugby.
